Daily Scripture: Nourishment for your Soul

“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The voice of God should never be ignored. When He speaks, we should always be willing to listen.

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’”

Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV)

The book of Isaiah was written to urge the leaders of the southern kingdom to obey God. The message was to warn them that if they did not obey God, they would face judgment. Isaiah accepted the Lord’s call, even though it was a difficult one, and he trusted God completely.

The main message in Isaiah is that God is the only One who can save us from sin. We must turn away from sin and truly honor Him. When you truly love someone, you don’t want to do anything to hurt or upset them. So why do we continue to make excuses for sin when we know it grieves the Lord?

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV)

If you belong to Christ, then you have the Holy Spirit within you to strengthen you, lift you up, hlp you overcome sin, and enable you to walk in righteousness. No, we will never be perfect, and there will be times when we fall short. Thank You, Jesus, for the gift of grace, for the opportunity to repent, and for the strength of the Holy Spirit to turn away from sin and back to You.

But to knowingly continue walking in sin and grieving God’s Spirit is not truly loving Him or giving Him your whole heart.

I hear people say so many times that when they are ready, they will let something go, do what God is telling them to do, or surrender what He is asking them to release. But it’s not about when you are ready. We can never make ourselves ready. He never asks us if we’re able; He asks us if we’re willing.

God didn’t ask Isaiah to fill out a job application. Isaiah heard the Lord’s call, and he answered, “Here I am, Lord.” That’s all you have to do. Run to Him with an open and surrendered heart, and He will do the rest.

Trust Him. Worship Him. Praise Him, because He alone deserves all the glory.
